Greetings!

Thank you for your interest in the African Technology Conference (ATC) Student Scholarship. This letter provides a brief introduction of the scholarship, criteria for applicant eligibility, and contact information for questions or further information.

As the first conference of its kind, the African Technology Conference 2008 will bring leaders of Africa together with technology professionals from across the globe, including corporate executives, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, academicians, students and government policy makers. Together, we will enjoy valuable networking opportunities while exploring ideas for enhancing the technology infrastructure, education and business opportunities in Africa, including the creation of a world-class technology center in Ghana. A critical component to this discussion and vision are students whose ideas will inform the vision, knowledge and skills will shape the vision, and commitment and work will sustain the vision and bring it to fruition. At the African Technology Conference 2008, you (as students) will play an active role in developing plans for transforming Africa’s technology potential into reality.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

The African Technology Conference Student Scholarship Committee will award 20 scholarships to Ghanian and Nigerian students to participate in the conference. The scholarship will cover the following:

• Travel expenses to attend the ATC
• ATC Registration Fee(s)
• Hotel accommodations during the conference
• Meals

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

In order to be eligible to apply for the ATC Student Scholarships, applicants must:

• Be undergraduate or graduate students attending a college or university in Ghana or Nigeria and currently residing in Ghana or Nigeria
• Be pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, The Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, etc.), Mathematics, Business, or Information Technology
• Complete and submit the ATC Student Scholarship application form by the Monday, May 5, 2008 deadline.
• Obtain at least one (preferably two) recommendation letter(s) describing the applicant’s abilities, capabilities, achievements, and potential contribution to the goals of the conference.
